Our New Project Has Been Approved! We’re on the Ground for Biodiversity and Climate Justice with “Roots & Rights”!

A new green movement is starting, stretching from Austria to Türkiye, Hungary to Serbia and Italy. Our project, “Roots & Rights: Youth for Biodiversity and Climate Justice,” has received official approval to shape the future of Europe in the hands of young people!

05/05/2026

Following the success of our “Youth in Action for Food Waste Reduction” project in Vienna, and in response to strong demand from our participants and stakeholders, we have developed a follow-up project, “Roots & Rights,” which combines ecological awareness with social justice and active advocacy.

🌍 What Are We Aiming For?
Today, the climate crisis is not only an environmental problem but also a matter of social justice. With our project, we aim to examine the critical link between biodiversity loss, climate change, and social inequality from the perspective of young people. Our goal is; The goal is not just to “inform” young people, but to transform them into “Climate Ambassadors” who can engage in dialogue with local governments, conduct campaigns, and design concrete eco-actions.

🇦🇹 11-Day Intensive Program in Vienna
As part of the project, a total of 42 participants and group leaders from Austria, Hungary, Turkey, Italy, and Serbia will come together in Vienna. What awaits us in our program?

Biodiversity Treasure Hunt: We will explore urban ecosystems using citizen-science applications.

Media and Advocacy Labs: We will make our voices heard by decision-makers by producing podcasts, short films, and digital booklets.

Vienna City Action: We will bring our climate justice message to the public sphere through street interviews and creative flashmob events.

Local Action Plans: Each country team will return home with an “eco-action” plan (city gardens, cleaning events, etc.) to be implemented in their local community.

🤝 An Inclusive and Democratic Youth Project
Our project prioritizes the participation of young people with limited opportunities, emphasizing that environmental activism is the right and responsibility of all young people, not just a minority. Through non-formal learning techniques, intercultural dialogue, and nature-based activities, we are building a confident youth group that participates in democratic life.

📅 Timeline and Impact
Our project cycle will begin with preparatory work in June and continue with dissemination activities until January. During this process, we expect not only participants but also local governments, schools, and youth centers to be involved in this green transformation.

Stay tuned!
This voice rising from Vienna is coming to take root and defend our rights for a fairer, greener, and more livable Europe.
